We needed to have a few extra days in Darwin to keep the “Captain”
healthy. Darwin Toyota managed to fit us
in really quickly and replace an Oil Pressure Sensor – we also had the Turbo
re-tuned to give us a bit more grunt.
Great move as we don’t feel like we are constantly driving “up hill”
everywhere. Thanks again to MTQ Darwin
for squeezing us in. We did manage to slot
some fun things into our last week, the Palmerston water park (free) was great
for young and old with a huge water slide, and Sam loved the fact that it had 6
lanes and at the end of the run it gave your position as you crossed the line.
We also went to the Military Museum which had a comprehensive display and movie
on the Bombing of Darwin. Throw in some
gun displays and military hardware in the outside grounds had us all enthralled
(well almost all of us). It was well worth the drive to East Point for a look. We also took advantage of our time at the park
without a car, and got stuck into some serious school work. After having a week off school, we were all
quite motivated – which was a great experience – as it is not always like
this. Friday was our final day here –
after dropping the car off at 7:30, we packed up the camper and sat around the
pool waiting for a phone call to pick it up again. The kids have loved swimming here – so didn’t
seem to notice the hours go by. They
have been practicing their diving – complete with flippers, and snorkel in the
waterfall pool. Quite confident now –

water. I think mostly, people are
holding their breath to see if she will reappear or not on the surface. One afternoon was funny – one of the park
maintenance guys started to take his gear off ready to jump in and save Sam –
who was floating on the top of the water face down. Little did he know that Sam
had a snorkel, and was just floating around relaxing…it was nice to know that
people do pay attention. Darwin managed
to loosen its grip on us after lunch and we headed off for our next adventure
KAKADU NATIONAL PARK………
