Yalgorup National Park

After leaving Donnibrook we headed for the Harvey Harvest Festival. Harvey is a little country town on the way to Perth. When we arrived we were shocked at how many people were there to celebrate. So after hanging up some washing between the camper and the car (hillbilly style) we walked up to where the action was. We all stopped to watch a performer from Margaret river perform an acrobatic routine that had us all glued and in stitches when he stated he would perform in the "nude" only to reveal a pink leotard (picture this a 50 year old receding bleach blond dude). He went on to perform a one handed upside down hand press atop of a tower made from drinking glasses. We were all very impressed. Thankfully for Larina there was a performance from the local dance studio so she had her turn to enjoy as well. We then browsed the markets and had lunch supplied by the local bakery.
We headed off to Yalgorup National Park for the night. There was a very corrugated road on the way in and when we arrived we were greeted by the camp hosts and no other campers. We had our pick for the night. This was a nice spot with loads of Grass trees for us to gather more sap for knife making. Mandy spent some quality time with the camp hosts Graeme and Lyn, as they had travelled extensivly throughout WA, gaining a wealth of information and tips as we head north.
Being Sunday, we also had a special time of communion together - which will be a treasured memory.
The next day saw pack up and schooling -  which I have to say Sam and Nick are doing very well at, despite the number of distractions - ie, goanna's walzing by, birds in the bushes, sticks to touch, dirt to dig holes in, butterflys to catch, long trips to the toilets... it's endless.  I am realising more and more how idealistic I am... my inital excitment of open outdoor classrooms are slowly beginning to fade into appreciation of walls and doors of the classroom at home.   Schooling on the whole is quite difficult to get through because there are so many wonderful things to see and do.  We do try and jam a bit more in on days that we are just hanging around - but it is really difficult for young boys to sit for hours on end when they are no longer used to sitting much at all.
