Canal Creek – back to the tele track
“Mum and Dad, stop that arguing” says Sam from the
backseat. “We’re not arguing, we’re
discussing!” came the reply. It was one of those mornings when you leave
camp without a firm plan of what the day might bring or where you will go. Sometimes those days are unreal, sometimes
they are hard work. Better sleep last
night would have helped the situation, but at the end of the day it all worked
out for good. We found ourselves back on
the old tele track, exploring some more creeks north of Sam Creek after
enjoying the experience before. We set
up camp in an awesome little spot on Canal creek, about three metres from the
water. After helping out some fellow
travellers with our sat phone, we swam all afternoon. Nick unfortunately lost his new croc band in
the water (in the fast flowing creek), and the search began. Ben amazingly found it 2 hours later buried
in the sandy bottom of the creek. Just
as well Ben doesn’t give up easy. Nick
was far more interested in poking at the turtle swimming by, and exploring the
rock pools. (Ben – How could you give up looking, Nick had saved 50cents a week
to pay for his $12.50 croc leather band, and he looks cool with it on)
