Well I have never seen so much gear and so many boats
crammed onto a barge before! I thought
we would never leave the Island. Finally
we entered the deep sea and returned to Gladstone. Thankfully the sea’s were much kinder this
trip. (Nick had been feeling very
nervous about the long trip, so he was particularly happy) On landing in Gladstone, we began the
confusing task of locating all our gear, which for some reason was spread
between all the crates. Crazy
organisation really. Mum almost lost her
tent, but managed to locate it in someone’s boat, as they were about to
leave. We hit Maccas and feasted on
either lunch or dinner – who knows what it is called at 3pm in the
afternoon. All we knew was that we were
tired and hungry.
Setting up our little home was a joy again back at the
caravan park, and a long hot shower even more so. I think we were all snoring by 8:30pm. (yes Justin, even us!) We took the next day to wash and sort things
out, while Mum, Dad and Justin all hit the road home. Thanks for a great trip guys!
One thing that camping achieves is a greater appreciation of the things we normally take for granted back home, ( like a dry bed, although at my age that could soon change, not having to sleep under a tarp because the winds blowing the rain in,and a floor that doesn't look and smell like the bottom of the cocky's cage,)
